Beautiful Florence, Firenze Bella – A History in Ten Objects:

Enjoying the popularity of my Talk – Ancient Egypt – A History in 12 Objects’, I was inspired to repeat the concept and write – Firenze Bella, Beautiful Florence A History in 10 Objects.

Florence, The Medici, and the Italian Renaissance – this historical ‘tour de force’ – ultimately led to the Historic Centre of Renaissance Florence being designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 – and to Florence now being one of the most popular cities to visit in Italy.

This talk looks at the origins of Florence, beginning with the early settling of the area during the Etruscan Era – c. 900 – 27 BCE – through to modern times.

We learn its fabulous history and of the great explosion of intellect, artistic creativity and science that was the Italian Renaissance.

With my selection I choose differing types of objects – art, sculpture, architecture, buildings – all exquisitely beautiful, breath-taking it their creation, and some truly ground-breaking in their achievement – and each with its own compelling and fascinating story to tell!

The full talk of ten objects takes longer than an hour to deliver.  However, fewer objects can be included, or it can begiven as two talks of five objects: each then being of around 45 minutes.  It is a popular presentation, to a wide range of groups, and especially to those who are interested in art, architecture, science, and design, as well as history.
